Canberra is Electrifying
The ACT Government is preparing to electrify the city and transition away from the use of fossil fuel gas by 2045. They are doing this because an all-electric Canberra will allow us to power our city, homes, businesses, and transport in a cleaner and cheaper way.

Home Energy Support Program
If you are a Pensioner Concession, Veteran’s Affairs Gold Card, or Australian Government Health Care Card holder, you may be eligible for up to $5,000 in rebates to help with the upfront costs of installing energy efficient products and undertaking sustainable upgrades.
Eligible homeowners can access:

one rebate of 50% of the total installation price, up to a maximum rebate of $2,500, for rooftop solar, and
-
one rebate of 50% of the total installation price, up to a maximum rebate of $2,500, for:

reverse cycle heating and cooling
-
hot water heat pumps
-
electric stove tops
-
ceiling insulation
-
Other energy efficiency products may be added in future.
Eligible Households can also take out an interest-free loan of up to $10,000 to cover the rest of the costs.

Sustainable Household Scheme
Eligible home owners can borrow up to $15,000 as part of the Sustainable Household Scheme. This scheme provides zero-interest loans to help with the costs of energy-efficient upgrades.

Renters’ Home Energy Program
The Renters’ Home Energy Program is a free and easy way to:

save on your home energy bills
-
get tips on the quickest, cheapest and best ways to reduce energy use
-
make your home more comfortable without using more gas or electricity.
Renters can get a free home energy assessment and expert advice online, by phone or in their home.
The program is for anyone living in a rented home in the ACT.

Utilities Concession
The Utilities Concession is available to eligible ACT residents. To be eligible you must be the primary holder of one of the following concession cards: Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card (PCC), Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card (HCC), Veteran's Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or Gold Car Holders (Prisoner of War, War Widow or Totally Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) Embossed), ACT Service Access Card.
