Whether you’re a homeowner or you rent when it comes to home energy needs it can be difficult to know where to start. Care and Vinnies can help you to tune up your home energy needs so you can manage your energy usage and bills and stay comfortable at home.
About the Energy Assistance Community Partnership
Care and Vinnies have been providing valuable support in the community for many years. The Energy Assistance Community Partnership (EACP), funded by ACT Government, allows Care and Vinnies to work together to continue and expand our support to consumers wanting to review their home energy needs.
About Care
Care has been supporting the Canberra community since 1983 and we believe in financial fairness for all. We are a community organisation that provides free and confidential information and assistance to people living on low to moderate incomes including those experiencing financial difficulty. Since 2017 Care has provided a specialist energy support program to consumers in the ACT and surrounding areas who are experiencing or are at risk of energy stress. The funding to provide this program is funded through ActewAGL.
To date Care’s energy financial capability team has helped hundreds of clients by providing information on bill paying options and hardship arrangements to help manage energy bills and usage. Care’s energy financial capability team has been able to help eligible clients access concessions and to date totals over $43,400 in backdated concessions. Through this program Care has also provided over 3500 energy support vouchers to Canberrans and the funding to provide these vouchers has come from the ACT Government and ActewAGL.
About Vinnies
Vinnies has been providing assistance in the region since 1986, offering a hand up to those in need. Vinnies has delivered more than 4,600 home energy assessments through the Home Energy Efficiency Program since 2010 – and many more to go. Vinnies is passionate about making energy efficiency achievable for all Canberrans, and has a committed team to listen and provide culturally appropriate services to help with your energy needs.
Vinnies delivers household energy assessments thanks to the funding and support of the ACT Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate.
